WHO AM I
I’m a Vienna-based freelance clarinetist, improviser, researcher and curator active on the international classical and contemporary music scene.
I’m currently part of the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Music Leaders Group and, as such, I’m member of the curatorial team of the Lucerne Festival Forward!, performer and leading instrumentalist in the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra/Ensemble, and Teaching Faculty at Lucerne Festival Academy.
I’m also currently a doctoral artistic researcher in the Doctor Artium Program for Artistic Research of Vienna University of Performing Arts MdW.
My dissertation projects focuses on investigating the reality of new music fruition in late-modern western society. I’m questioning the role of music institutions, concert formats, technological mediation and community value from the point of view of a new music interpreter, improviser and curator: this brings me to realise original projects that span from solo to collaborative performances, stream-like pure improvisations, collective multidisciplinary co-creations and commissioning international projects. I create, curate and perform my research questions on stage with the goal of re-imagine the listening space beyond the transactional nature imposed by music industry. My theoretical core-references are Rosa’s Resonance theory, Debord’s post-Marxist view on the society of spectacle and bell hooks’ political and societal stand on love.
My first research projects FoodChain and stele were showcased and premiered by the Museum of Modern Arts in Vienna and Brunnenpassage, and generated further research collaborations with philosopher Irena Müller-Brozovič, with whom I’m creating a long-term commissioning project called Boundless Place.
WHO HAVE I WORKED WITH

As a performer I have either on-going or recent collaborations with several world-class ensembles and orchestras.
Most recently I have been touring all over Europe as Principal and Co-principal with Klangforum Wien, made some beautiful memories working as Principal Bass Clarinet with the London Symphony Orchestra, and of course with my current musical home; the Lucerne Festival Contemporary Orchestra.
I also repeatedly worked in France with Ensemble Intercontemporain and Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France, and in Italy with “S. Cecilia” National Orchestra in Rome, the Florence Opera House “Maggio Musicale Fiorentino”, Haydn Orchester Bozen and the Orchestra of Bologna Opera House.
More sporadically I had the pleasure to join some outstanding smaller ensembles such as Karajan Academy in Berlin, Crash Ensemble in Dublin, and mdi Ensemble in Milan, for some more-or-less last-minute calls
Over the years I was lucky enough to share the stage with some truly inspiring musicians. Among the conductors I particularly enjoyed working with Susanna Mälkki, Riccardo Chailly, Bas Weigers, Zubin Mehta and Daniel Barenboim, Sir Antonio Pappano, Fabio Luisi, Giannandrea Noseda, Emilio Pomarico, Lorenzo Viotti, Sylvain Camberling, Peter Rundel, Elena Schwarz, George Benjamin and Peter Eötvös, while my intense new music activity has led me to perform and often premiere works by Rebecca Saunders, Liza Lim, Unsuk Chin, Malin Bång, Matthias Pintscher, Beat Furrer, Helmuth Lachnemann, Michel Jarrell, Enno Poppe, Wolfgang Rihm, Peter Eötvös and George Benjamin, almost always in direct or close collaboration with all of them.
I often perform in a very diverse range of settings, from duo-formations/chamber ensemble to sinfonietta/orchestral, with outstanding artists such as Patricia Kopatchinskaja, Dimitri Tymoczko (Princeton University Composition Faculty), Simone Bernardini (Ist violins Berliner Philharmoniker), Andreas Willvohl (Soloist, Guest principal viola in Deutusche Radio Berlin), Isang Enders (Soloist, former solo-cellist in Staatskapelle Dresden), Quartetto Indaco (winners of the Osaka International Chamber Competition 2023), and members of the Cremona Quartet

WHERE HAVE I WORKED
Thanks to all these collaborations and encounters I traveled and played all around the world.
I repeatedly performed in Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Berlin Philharmonie, Paris Philharmonie, Barbican Center, Tokyo Yamaha Hall Ginza, KKL Concert Hall in Luzern, Wiener Konzerthaus, Grosses Festspielehaus Salzburg, Théâtre du Châtelet, Pierre Boulez Saal, Müpa Hall Budapest, Operà de Dijon, Helsinki Musica Nova, Arvo Pärt Center, Dublin National Concert Hall, Heidelberg Frühlings Musik Festival, Prague Spring Festival, Auditorium Parco della Musica in Rome, Mizmorim Chamber Music Festival Basel, CentQuatre Hall Paris, La Scala Opera House in Milan, “Dal Verme” Theatre in Milan, “S. Carlo” Opera House in Napoli, “Massimo” Opera House in Palermo, Aldebrugh Festival 2019, International Mantua Chamber Music Festival Trame Sonore 2019, ManiFeste 2018 and 2019, MusikFest Berlin and Royaumont Foundation.
If I’d had to pinpoint a starting line for all this traveling, I’d say it all started all the way back in 2015, with my solo recital “Micat in Vertice” concert season of the Chigiana Academy in Siena.
